Accounting is an important part of every business and industry around the world. Successful accountants possess interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Accountants must also bring a broad perspective and special accounting knowledge to the job.

The field of accounting offers challenging and rewarding opportunities in public accounting, tax accounting, industry, government, 以及非营利组织. The courses and hands-on experiences we provide in the 斯科特商学院 will prepare you for any of these exciting careers.

不仅仅是借方和贷方. Often called the ‘language of business’, accountants are the stewards of information and must understand sources of data relied on for fiscal reporting and decision making.

Mission

The 会计程序 strives to prepare students to assume roles as accounting professionals in society as well as provide them with a foundation for continued life-long learning. Our program helps prepare for professional certifications such as:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA),
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA),
• Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA),
• 注册欺诈审查员(CFE);
• Certified Financial Planner (CFP),

Learning Goals

In addition to the learning goals established for all 斯科特商学院 majors, students graduating with a major in accounting will demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:

• An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting theory that embodies the technical knowledge required for entry into the accounting professions.
• The ability to apply financial accounting, cost accounting, auditing, and taxation to address the information needs of organizations.
• Competency in current technology relevant to the accounting profession.
